The City of East Cleveland has enacted a temporary moratorium on new cannabis dispensaries while City leaders take time to review the facts, evaluate potential impacts, and hear from the community.
The moratorium is not a final decision for or against dispensaries. It provides an opportunity for the City to conduct appropriate due diligence before making decisions with long-term implications for East Cleveland.
As part of that review, the City will examine potential economic and tax benefits, public health and safety considerations, workforce impacts, market demand, community development goals, and the experiences of other communities where dispensaries currently operate.
We believe residents deserve decisions based on credible data, measurable impacts, and a clear understanding of both the potential benefits and potential concerns.
We invite East Cleveland residents, businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to follow the discussion, review the information as it becomes available, and share their perspectives.
The goal is simple: get the facts, hear the community, and make an informed decision about what best serves East Cleveland’s future.
